Dog Years ~ Just How Much First 8 Weeks Shapes Your Puppy

The life expectancy of any dog is commonly expressed in terms of dog years by us and it depends entirely on the dog’s breed, size as well as the dog’s surroundings. Various other factors affect the life expectancy of a dog. A dog’s life span changes according to the diet provided to him and also by the number of medical problems the dog tends to face over the years.

It is generally assumed that, on an average, “one human year equals to seven dog years”. This statement is not accurate, since the first two years are jointly represented by 18-25 years in such schemes and because the entire ratio cannot be generalized for all the dogs though, they belong to different sizes and breeds. The ratio is higher with youth and decreases a bit as the dog ages. Depending on breed, a dog experiences the raging hormones of adolescence anywhere from eight months to two years or more. Generally, a dog of six has aged about as much as a 45-year-old human. At 10, she’s like a human of 65; at 12, a human of 75; and at 15, a human of 90.

Decide to make your puppy your TOP priority for his/her first 6 months of life and reap the benefits for the rest of his/her life. Carefully screen and select your breeder as their effect on your new puppy is something you will be living with for many years to come.
